What brought you to Bumbershoot Aerial Arts?
As a kid, I wanted to be a trapeze artist/aerialist. I stalked Bumbershoot for a while, then one day just decided to go for it at the try-it Silks. 5 minutes in, I was hooked! Now it’s like my second home.
What is your favorite apparatus to work on?
The trapeze!
What is your favorite thing about Bumbershoot?
The community! The coaches and students are the most supportive people I’ve ever met, and dedication to their students safety and success is so special!
What kinds of things do you do when you aren’t hanging in the air?
I have a Menagerie (a dog, hedgehog, and tortoise) that I like to spend time with, as well as hiking with my fiancé, and taking my “niece†on adventures!
What is your favorite dessert?
Pie. All of them.
When you are having a tough day in class, what do you tell yourself?
Whenever I find myself dating “I can’t†I hear coach April in my head saying “yet†or Kim saying “if it’s not your day, that’s ok†with her ever chipper, encouraging attitude.
What is your favorite trick? Least favorite?
Favorite: two-tailed mermaid. Least: rock-n-roll. I just can’t figure that one out! (Yet)
If you could run away to a desert island with one person from Bumbershoot who would it be?
This one is so hard! Probably Coach Emily because she cracks me up...and can teach me more trap tricks!
Do you have a favorite memory from class or performing?
It’s hard to pick just one. The first time I made it to the top of the rope was one of my most proud moments there. Both because I finally was strong enough, but also because I’m terrified of heights and overcame that, with my classmates and coaches cheering me on the whole time!
