What brought you to Bumbershoot Aerial Arts?
I remember seeing an aerial performance at SeaWorld as a kid and I've been fascinated by aerial arts ever since! I was looking for a an outlet and I desperately wanted to try silks. I'm happy to say it was love at first climb.
What is your favorite apparatus to work on?
Silks!
What is your favorite thing about Bumbershoot?
I have several! I love the sense of community and how supportive the coaches and students are. I also love the strong focus on the art of it all as opposed to it being seen as just a workout. Lastly, it's such a body positive environment.
What kinds of things do you do when you aren’t hanging in the air?
I'm an avid reader, graduate student studying mental health counseling, and I dress up as princesses for birthday parties. Read, study, wear costumes, repeat.
What is your favorite dessert?
I just like sweets in general. Cheesecake and eclairs are probably my favorite though.
When you are having a tough day in class, what do you tell yourself?
Look how far you've come! Remember when you couldn't even straddle? Look at you now!
What is your favorite trick? Least favorite?
I love drops more than anything! Least favorite is probably arabesque. It still makes me nervous.
If you could run away to a desert island with one person from Bumbershoot who would it be?
I can't decide! I've made so many friends over the years.
Do you have a favorite memory from class or performing?
One showcase I got to be a villain and I had so much fun getting to take advantage of my wide range of facial expressions. Favorite class memories mostly revolve around my funny expressions and me cracking up and having to come down so I don't fall. When I laugh my grip just goes.
