What brought you to Bumbershoot Aerial Arts?
I randomly ended up at Batman Live back in 2013 which turned out surprisingly entertaining and included a silks act which blew my mind. I signed up for the next session at Bumbershoot that night I think.
What is your favorite apparatus to work on?
Rope stole my heart the second I even touched it. I have barely looked at another apparatus since. The mixed vertical class I am currently taking includes silks and I am possibly falling in love all over again.
What is your favorite thing about Bumbershoot?
Being upside down is a truly an addiction. Upside down with other silly and wonderful humans is my favorite. True confessions, I also love it that random people notice my muscles and ask about them. Then I get to hype aerial arts whether or not they care or want to listen to me go on and on.
What kinds of things do you do when you aren’t hanging in the air?
Attempting to be outside at all times- going down the river, watching birds and tadpoles, acro in the park, going on adventures to find springs and caves. Those things, or else I'm probably at home talking to my cats.
What is your favorite dessert?
Lets just say I need them all.
When you are having a tough day in class, what do you tell yourself?
I have tough days when I am working night shifts (I'm a pediatric nurse) and my body and brain are all messed up during class. I tell myself it all just for fun. And I don't judge myself for sitting in the bean bag chair and just watching if I have to.
What is your favorite trick? Least favorite?
The scariest, the most spinning the better and preferably open dropping. I can't help it! I will always love fister twister and hail Mary. I can't say I don't like anything in particular.
If you could run away to a desert island with one person from Bumbershoot who would it be?
Can't we all go? Amy has been my coach the whole time at Bumbershoot, so I think its probably true I can't live without her.
Do you have a favorite memory from class or performing?
Performing in group acts is the best - thinking there is no way it will come together and then somehow it does. Getting to know new sides to my friends and classmates. Ropeside story from the last showcase was hilarious to me from start to finish.
