What brought you to Bumbershoot Aerial Arts?
I was always interested in trying silks and I was trying to lose weight so I told myself when I hit 50 pounds lost, I would sign up for a class as a reward. I lost the weight, signed up for a class, and haven't missed a session since.
What is your favorite apparatus to work on?
Trapeze
What is your favorite thing about Bumbershoot?
How everyone is so supportive of everyone else. People cheer you on, clap for you, and always give you a boost when you need it.
What kinds of things do you do when you aren’t hanging in the air?
I like to powerlift, play skeeball (I have been restoring my own machine), cook elaborate recipes usually involving cheese sauce, and run around the park with my pug, Frank.
What is your favorite dessert?
Chocolate covered strawberries
When you are having a tough day in class, what do you tell yourself?
I look back to how far I have come and how many things I can do now that I never thought I could. Every class isn't perfect but I have never regretted showing up and I know it will be better next time.
What is your favorite trick? Least favorite?
Favorite is dolphin on the trapeze because I love making goofy sound effects. Least favorite is ankle hangs.
If you could run away to a desert island with one person from Bumbershoot who would it be?
Sunny because she could entertain me with goofy dance moves and we would have endless time to practice flapping our hands in opposite directions.
Do you have a favorite memory from class or performing?
Tom was dressed as a clown one morning, red nose and all, and was peering through the window from outside. Kris and Amy were leading warm up and hadn't noticed he was out there yet and he kept ducking out of view, so they couldn't figure out why a bunch of us were cracking up during our stretches.
