Ever since I was a little girl I have loved physicality, expression and anything dramatic, colorful or bold. I love watching human creativity take flight and if it can literally take flight, I am all the more delighted! So, when I found the circus, I just knew I had to be a part of it -it felt like something I had been made to do. It was just meant to be. 12 years of circus, later, I'm still in love.

I began with tumbling and gymnastics at the age of 3 and continued off and on through high school. My siblings did it too. Being the oldest girl from a big family (12 children) I developed leadership skills by coaching my younger siblings and at an early age I found out that I had a natural ability to teach. When I was 16 I began coaching gymnastics and not long after, I discovered circus and soon began coaching that as well.

I began a performance troupe with my younger siblings. My parents were very supportive. I think we all loved the fact that the circus was big enough to celebrate the "different-ness" of our family while at the same time unifying us somehow. It seemed like our individual uniqueness shown a little brighter even when we were making 1 gigantic pyramid!

My family learned and performed unicycling, juggling, acrobatics, stunts, pyramids, globe walking, and even a little comedy. It was through teaching for a social circus company called Circus Day Foundation (now called Circus Harmony) that I fell deeply in love with the Aerial Arts and began performing that as well.

In the Aerial world, Static trapeze is my first love. Then came Aerial fabric, Corde Lisse, and Lyra. I also LOVE partnering on the ground and in the air. I eventually became the lead Aerial instructor for Circus Harmony and developed an entire Aerial Arts program that I taught there for over seven years.

Then, with the help and support of my dear husband Seth, I opened Bumbershoot Aerial Arts in Fall of October 2009. Bumbershoot has been a dream come true for me. I feel like God planted the dream in my heart because He Himself wanted for Bumbershoot to exist and I am so glad! Bumbershoot has been a place where I have taught many things and learned many things all dear to my heart. It was here that I learned that not only do I love teaching, I love teaching others how to teach from the heart and to the heart. Bumbershoot has been and is a place where I can share something that I love (Aerial Arts) in a way that empowers people, enriches lives, and helps put the "play" back into life. Owning Bumbershoot is satisfying because it is one way that I feel like I get to help make the world a more beautiful place. Come share in the fun!
